Rachel Mukwaya began her role as Director of Social Services at the Center for Immigrants and Immigration Service in February 2023. She oversees the social services programs offered by the Center for Immigrants and Immigration Services. She collaborates with the Directors of Behavioral Health and Healthcare to ensure that clients receive support for their basic needs and quality of life. Rachel works with the senior case manager to ensure proper documentation of all cases. She supervises volunteers and social work interns at the Center for Immigrants. Additionally, she engages in community outreach to recruit volunteers and gain community support for clients. Before her current role, Rachel worked as a Social Worker in Colorado with various government and non-profit organizations. She has extensive experience in administration, information research and management, case management, psychosocial counseling, community organizing/outreach, data analysis, and report compilation. Rachel is originally from Uganda, East Africa. She relocated to the United States in 1997 after earning a Post-graduate Diploma in Gerontology and Geriatrics from the University of Malta in Europe. Upon moving to the USA, she joined the University of Denver, where she completed her graduate education. Rachel holds dual degrees: a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the Graduate School of Social Work and a Master of Arts in International Studies from the Joseph Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver in Colorado State.
