SOCIAL SERVICES
This department is responsible to ensure that our participants, mainly torture
survivors, asylum seekers, asylees, refugees and immigrants and their
families are regularly assisted and provided with essential support and
services such as shelter, clothing, and transportation, English language
skills, weekly foodbank food drive and help from Metro Caring Foodbank,
City Harvest Foodbank/Volunteer of America (VOA) assistance and other
social support. With transition housing assistance, community computer
literacy classes and trainings, the making of appointments for underserved
and unconnected refugees and immigrant families, amongst other social
support and services, help refugees and immigrants that come to Colorado to
resettle and timely integrate. Our Department of Social Services has built
excellent partnerships with local food banks including Metro Caring
Foodbank, Foodbank of the Rockies, City Harvest Foodbank, the Mosques
and Faith-based initiatives and other organizations and community-based
organizations and other agencies to provide transitional housing, the Denver
Regional Transit District, RTD Bus Passes, Coats for Colorado, and Friends
of Man, Helping Hand Bank of Colorado and other caregivers in Colorado to
help meet survivors of torture, refugees and immigrants basic human needs
as refugees and immigrants are resettled in Colorado make our State a new
and desired home. Center for Immigrants and immigration Services, CIIS,
also consistently work to provide and addresses the short and longer-term
needs that facilitate survivors and asylum seekers', refugees and immigrants’
adjustment, resettlement, and integration and stay in the State of Colorado,
United States of America.
